Foam fire extinguishers are effective against Class A and B fires. They contain the agent AFFF which, when discharged, covers burning solids or flammable liquids with a blanket of foam. This cuts off the fire's oxygen supply, prevents any flammable vapour from escaping, and kills the fire.
